BlackBerry To Get Puretracks DRM-Free Music
Puretracks recently announced that it will be offering its DRM-free music store to users of BlackBerry smartphones. The store will provide tracks encoded in AAC and AAC+ file formats at 64kbps bit rates. The service will be compatible with BlackBerry 8100 Pearls, 8300 Curves, and the 8800 series smartphones. Puretracks has songs from Universal, Sony BMG, Warner, EMI, and independent labels from around the world in its catalog. The service will launch on April 1 in the U.S., with other markets planned at later dates. For now, users will download via their standard data connections, but Puretracks will support Wi-Fi downloads in future releases. Pricing for the music was not immediately revealed.
